We had a meeting from 9am-2pm today at Ms. Ann’s amazing home. Johnny really empowered all of us and charged us up for the upcoming fall season at HPC. Here’s a picture of him displaying his wonderful improvisational skills- using some paper towels as a white board:
As the Late Nite team was discussing how we can improve outreach, I got a really slammin’ text message from my mom. She has a friend who is immobile, in a wheelchair, who relies on others to get her places. Apparently there is a church who takes her to and from her appointments, but today the guy didn’t show up and she missed a doctor’s appointment that can’t be rescheduled until November. My mom text me and told me she wants to be the HPCer who helps get her to places she needs to go. She saw a need and wants to sacrifice her time to help fill that need. Is that HPC or what? I am so pumped… while I see the importance of the big, scheduled, organized outreaches, I am so much more touched by the small acts of service like this one.
I love my mom! And I love that this church has shown her the importance of outreach! I pray that I see opportunities like this and lay down my own schedule to help others.
